ANTON ARNOLD (1881-1954) Austrian operatic tenor of Danube Swabians origin. In 1919 Arnold created the figure of the Hunchback in the world premiere of Strauss' Die Frau ohne Schatten.[3] In 1938 he appeared at the Salzburg Festival as Balthasar Zorn in the 1938 performance of "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" under Wilhelm Furtwängler. In 1941 he was a guest at the Vienna Volksoper, where he had already performed as a choir singer in 1909. He recorded several records between 1916-1918.
