(Zurückgehend auf die Marietta & Cincinnati Railroad. Nach der Übernahme 1882 durch die Baltiomore & Ohio Railroad Company erfolgte die Umbennung in Cincinnati, Washington & Baltimore Railroad Company welche später in Baltimore & Ohio Southwestern Railroad umbenannt wurde. Teile des Streckennetzes werden heute noch von der Great Miami & Scioto Railroad und als CSX Transportation Co. bedient. / This Cincinnati, Washington and Baltimore Railroad Stock Certificate is signed by Civil War Brigade General Orland Smith. Smith was a commander in the Union Army that took the hill in the Battle of Wauhatchie that now bears his name. After the war, he became an executive for the Railroad. Originally formed as the Belpre and Cincinnati Railroad in 1845 and then the Marietta and Cincinnati Railroad, it was absorbed by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O). In 1882 when taken over by the B&O it's name was changed to the Cincinnati, Washington, and Baltimore Railroad and then again to the B&O in 1889. Issued in the 1880s.
